Well, it was a terrific Halloween and such a strange experience to actually live in a neighborhood. First of all, we didn't spend ANY money on decorating our front porch. Big mistake. Our entire neighborhood is crazy for Halloween, and it shows. It was really fun and a little scary to see all the decorations!! Makes us excited, and a little nervous, for Christmas. I wish I'd brought the camera when I did my portion of walking the trick or treaters, but alas, I did not.

Ethan got to dress up for school -- where they had a pizza party for lunch, watched the Peanuts Halloween movie, AND had a 'family invited' Halloween party at the end of the day. It was really fun to see Ethan at school, and the fun work environment there. They actually were working on "estimation" math worksheets during the party -- estimating how many pumpkin seeds are in a pumpkin, etc. Poor Ms. Munoz had to COUNT the number of seeds in a medium sized pumpkin. I think that is going above and beyond.

The kids carved Sonic the Hedgehog and Dracula pumpkins for the Halloween party at church, and both won trophies!!

A bunch of teenagers were at one house, and when Cort and the boys came to the door, they all freaked out at the sight of Sonic the Hedgehog. They all started to sing the theme song. It was Elliot's shining moment, and Ethan was so proud of him. He was also a really protective brother during trick or treating, braving the scary looking houses, and judging if it was safe enough for Elliot. No trick or treating for Claire -- hopefully next year.

The kids had a ton of fun, and trick or treated for about 2 full hours, and didn't even have a chance to visit all the houses -- maybe next time. Elliot was so exhausted by the time that we were done, but Ethan was still rarin' to go. At one point, as Elliot wanted to go home, and he said, exasperated, "Ethan, let's go home! We can start again tomorrow morning," as Ethan ran to another house. I had to explain to him that it doesn't actually work that way. It's all fine and acceptable to knock on doors and beg for candy one night of the year, but the next day, it's all over. In fact, it's weird, I know, but an American tradition all the same.

Isn't it fun being in a real neighborhood for Halloween! We loved it too this year.
You can tell Elliot that we had a kid come ring our doorbell and ask for candy on Monday. I don't think he quite got the concept.
