It's like paradise here! The amazing weather, the great take out food, the zoo, the friendly neighbors, the discount shopping, the plethora of parking, the fact that people don't look at you too strangely when your three kids are racing up and down the aisle of whatever suburbia strip mall you're presently visiting. So there's this odd disorientation for Boston families who come to Albuquerque -- did the plane land, or did it crash? But I'm back to blogging, so we can pretty much be sure that we made it here safely (
yes, I ripped that opening off from Wait Wait). We're actually quite homesick, but focusing on the positive is a good thing. Our house is pretty spacious (although we've almost filled up the closet space -- should I be worried?). The kids are sleeping better already, and Ethan's made some friends through his primary class and Scouts, and there's a four year old boy who lives three doors down that Elliot enjoys playing with -- and that kid has a treehouse in his backyard!! All we have are weeds and pine cones (Elliot mistakenly calls them porcupines, so if he mentions it to you, you'll know what he means). The first night was a little strange -- the crickets were so loud and there's a mourning dove that sits on our attic fan and whoots from about 4am on.
The people are very nice here -- kindof strangely nice, but I'm kindof strange and kindof nice so it fits.
Here's some pictures of an impromptu Fourth of July party our neighbors had, and a few shots of the house.

ok, ok, so the Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular it's not, but hey, legal fireworks is fun!

I knew they wouldn't want their own room!

little red came home to us yesterday, think of all the $$ we'll save by cleaning it ourselves -- let's see: $6/wash -- clean it 3 times a year: $18/year baby!... wait a second, water costs a ton in NM... well, it builds character for the boys.
Basically, I think we're going to like it here. Boston friends, stay in touch -- my plan is to save a bunch of money each year and rent a house on the Cape for a month every summer. Yea, cheap ABQ livin'!
Here's some more pictures -- the house is a mess, but it's lived in (except for the living room -- need furniture):

Well, I'm happy you guys are settling in and enjoying NM but I just can't be too happy about you guys being gone! At least we have blogs to stay in touch. :) We miss you.
I love the picture of Ethan and Elliot - that's so sweet - so nice to have a brother - Derek wants a brother desperately - he asked the other day of we could just adopt a boy his age! Glad you're excited in your new place - how are the tortilla's? Let us know your new address...
Hurray, internet service is in. Thanks for the sweet pictures and upbeat update from the new New Mexico Johnson's. Your blog is precious to us and we love to log on and enjoy the latest goings on. We are well and enjoying a cooler Montana summer than has recently been the case. Wish we could beam you up to Spring Meadow Lake for another family picnic but the blog is next best. Love you guys! NM phone number would be great to have.
WOW - look at all that SPACE!!! That said, of course the boys found the smallest space to cuddle in - adorable!
