the ultimate BEFORE (July 2008)
for the big reveal.....
September 2010
(how I wish this was done in July...
because then it would add up so nicely...
but I'm thankful it happened at all....
so who cares about a date anyway....
NEW COUNTERTOPS!!!!!!!!!!!
I've wanted new countertops since I first laid eyes on the property. I am so so happy with this transformation....

So we got all these countertops (and more... there will be another reveal on the other side of the kitchen in a few weeks) for WICKED cheap. The only caveat: we had to do it by ourselves. Not an easy project.
One cabinet guy I told that we were going to do this by ourselves said he's been in the business for 30 years and he wouldn't do it by himself (all the angles, all the positioning, the measuring and remeasuring, etc.).
I then said: "Well, my husband has a PhD in physics from M.I.T. and I think that he's prepared for that kind of thing."
He retorted: "He may as well have gone to Clown College for the amount of help that degree will be."
Nothing like a challenge like that make Cort spring into action. So in about two 12 hour days, we are loving the countertops... the additional peninsula is yet to come....
So just to recap:

Clown College! The nerve... I
t looks great, I can't imagine doing something like that on our own-- so I am super impressed.
Gorgeous! I love the look! And to think that he doubted your abilities...
Wowzer powzer!
That looks so good. I love the before. I hadn't seen the brown cupboards.
I feel special I got to see it in person, too. I love the color choice you made, too.
